Welcome :)

Hello :)

Welcome to my blog. My name is Gillie and I love all things Vintage, particuarly from the 40's and 50's era. I am not an expert. I am just a regular 30 something girl with a love of 'times gone by'.

I have been interested in vintage times for about the last 5 years or so, but I always loved listening to my Grandma and Grandpa's stories (some of which I hope to share on here) about there time in life, particularly their early years when they were the age my husband (DH) and I are now. My Grandparents are sadly no longer with us but their stories will stay with me a lifetime and I hope you will enjoy them too.

I am just an ordinary girl, living in a maisonette with my husband. We have no children. I have recently started a new job having come out of an extremely stressful and thankless job where, for the past year I have had no life having been either at work,or worrying about work! So this blog marks a new start in my life where I now have a work/life balance and get to pursue my hobbies and do things I actually want to do! I have written a list of all the things I want to do this year and stuck it on my fridge. A lot of them are simple things like going on long walks and picnicing, but they're things I haven't done nearly enough of over the last 18 month or so.

I love reading about life in the 40's and 50's. I buy a lot of books second hand, but also make good use of my local library. I love vintage clothing, most of them repro's. I love Lindy bop clothing and Collectif too. I go to a lot of antique/vintage shops, markets and fayre's and this year I hope to go to a 1950's dance, if anyone knows of a good one in the South of England, message me! I have an allotment that I have had for just over a year so I am looking forward to growing well this year and doing some preserving as well.

I hope you will check back again to see what I'm up to.

The leaflet of the left is a repro from the Swansea 1940s museum but the
magazine on the right is an original. I collect 1940'sand 50's Womens
magazines. I find them fascinating :)
